Well, looking for a news story on the internet is harder than i thought. Both FOX and abc had no record of the news story. It was about a kindergartner who threw a tantrum at school and got handcuffed for it. The parents were called to pick him/her up and sent the nanny. The nanny got there and the kid was handcuffed to something. The school wouldn't release the kid to the nanny so they sent him/her to a mental hospital. a six year old!! They said it was because he might be crazy. A six year old!! Who threw a tantrum!! Now who hasn't heard of a 6 year old throwing a tantrum? I have. i've even done it. Kids throw fits, of many different kinds, usually involving screaming, kicking, biting, pouting, glaring, hitting, etc. They don't all have to be present in a single fit either.

What's worse is it was a public school. IT is abuse of a child. A child who was put in the care of thier teachers. If that's what they do to someone elses kid, what do they do to thier own kids?

Private school is looking really good about now. Especially since it seems the school is getting away with it because it's the school and what they say goes.

Private school isn't much better sometimes. My daughter went to private school at one point and it was amazing some of the things that went on. Personally, I think whether public or private, the problem is that we need teachers that care more about the children than making a paycheck and administrators that aren't so interested in making a name for themselves by stopping and "attack" (such as those we see on the news of school shootings, etc) that most likely wouldn't have even occured. Sending your kids to school anymore is just a scary thing. Our school district recently had a teacher/coach (my daughters volleyball coach) and another teacher from a neighboring district who were arrested for drunk driving, possession of marijuana, during the arrest, the first teacher drops her pants in middle of the road to urinate....then again did the same thing at the police station. And to be honest, I had thought this coach (I hesitate at this point to call her a teacher) was a good influence on the girls. It really makes you want to home school your children.

Personally, I think the best way to make sure they stay out of trouble at school and don't have problems with the teachers is to STAY INVOLVED!! I'm amazed at how many parents have no clue what their kids are doing, who their friends/teachers are, and sadly, the don't even care. My kids get so mad at me sometimes because I'm (in their words) too involved, but, my kids aren't in trouble, they get along with their teachers and don't hang out with trouble makers. I just really feel that so many problems that are blamed on teachers, schools, etc, actually begin with the parents.
