Exodus: Gods and Kings

Not Well Done

         So I watched Exodus Gods and Kings.  It's is not biblically accurate, however it did have all the plagues in it, and the burning bush. One review I read said it had neither.

         Alas, the plagues were glossed over, Moses was arrogant, his brother Aarons importance was left out and instead of casting the voice of God they cast a little boy to be God.

          The plagues were also done completely wrong. Moses was done wrong.

         Moses had his brother Aaron speak for him. It is thought that he may have had a stutter or a weak voice because he was not a good public speaker. I suspect he may have had stage fright and was thus unable to speak publicly.
         In the movie, crocodiles attack people a run the Nile red with blood., followed by the frogs, flies, boils, locust, death of cattle, hail (it was supposed to be burning hail) 3 days of darkness, death of the first born, gnats. I'm sure these aren't in order.
         In my ignatious press bible it doesn't say anything about pharaohs magician making some of the plagues go away and being unable to do anything about others. The KJ version I had did. I'm inclined to disregaurd KJ bibles. Too much compromise in it's creation.
         I was sorely disappointed with them leaving Aaron out as Moses' profit. Aaron was the one instructed to strike the waters of the nile to turn them to blood. Aaron was the one that did the public speaking. God told Moses, Moses told Aaron, Aaron told pharaoh.
         I read that Joshua was left mostly out of it. This is biblically correct. There isn't mention of Joshua (who becomes a leader among the Hebrews and takes over for Moses) until after the book of Exodus. He leads the people into the land when Moses cannot.
          As for the Red Sea parting..here is a grey area. We don't know what it looked like. Artistic liscence is taken everytime because of that. But there is archeological evidence that it happened.


      Not a bad movie. But it could have been better. The only one that has come close to Cecil B Demille is Prince of Egypt.

          A few years ago I wrote a blogpost on how wrong people were about vaccines causing autism.
I must withdraw those statements and present my most hearfelt apologies to anyone I misled with my misinformation about the dangers of vaccines.

       I thought I would take a look at the news this morning. To my surprise this was in the headlines.
Why is this news? Why would the government even consider this? I know the "nanny state" got out of head way back and now needs b#$%^ slapped into reality, but this is realy too far.

       Mrs. Obama you need a hobby that involves hand eye coordination and not meddling in the rest of the nations lives. If you are that bored go out, get a regular job and get off our backs. The only person I ever saw meddle more than you has ostrisized her  children and her husband. Not to mention running off the only friend she had had for years.

     We don't need color coded talking shopping carts. we don't need people on food stamps to have "government ambassadors" teaching them how to shop. If you want that to happen why not encourage (note encourage not run) girls to take an actual course on how to care for a home. From cleaning and time organization to budget and nutrition. That will cover everything you are trying to do as well as help even the boys who may take the class learn a thing or two about nutrition.

      The stores also don't need better lighting. We can see just fine. You are really out of line here I mean come on! Talking shopping carts? Really? Life is not a reality show run by sitcoms. And as far as farmers markets adopting these changes, they can't get any healthier. They already sell fruits and vegetables and local honey and healthy local produce.

       Oh yes. Letting us think we are making a descision on our own while making have no other option but to do something, we know that's not reallyl leaving the descision up to us.

             So, The other day I was watching a documentary on you tube about the "bad girls" of the Bible. Well I couldn't sit through it. It was so completely gender feminist and twisted about how great they were that I just couldn't watch it.

             I will say this:


             Yes Delilah was a whore. Money changed hands for her to seduce Samson and find out his secret. That makes her, by definition, a whore.
            Bathsheba did manipulate her way into the kings bed, and into him killing her husband. Yes she could have bathed somewhere else. She is also a bad person.
           
              Since I didn't finish it I don't know who they picked for the rest, but I am sure I could tell them off for them as well. I mean.. Really? Just because they slept around and manipulated people and politics why are they so great? They were, essentially, evil.

             Why not do an equality feminist documentary about the strong women of the Bible? Not a dramatized movie, a real documentary. Judith, Esther, Hannah, Ruth, Mary (duh). There are so many more examples of women who are worth emulating. I would rather see a documentary about them.
